Reading List: Hispanic Heritage Month – What to Read, Listen To, Watch, and Follow

National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated each year to honor the cultures and contributions of Hispanic and Latinx Americans. While the celebration began as Hispanic Heritage Week in 1968, it was expanded to a full month in 1988 — it’s now observed from September 15 to October 15 in commemoration of the independence anniversaries of eight Latinx countries (Belize, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, and Nicaragua).

We put together a list of resources to help you learn more about Hispanic and Latinx Americans and how the work of writers, artists, and activists had an impact on American culture.
