Allyship is the continuous practice of advancing a culture of inclusion through intentional, positive, and conscious actions that benefit others. Our Allyship training equips participants with a framework and tools to be an effective ally in the workplace through everyday interactions, in-the-moment interventions, and ongoing advocacy. Our approach is based on research in identity formation, helping behaviors, and organizational climate and culture.
Participants will leave with an understanding of:
And the confidence and skills to:
Define allyship and related concepts such as “marginalized” and “privileged” groups. | Discuss the importance of allyship for both groups and the organization at large.
Consider best practices for effective allyship, explaining the importance of embracing discomfort, noticing inequity, speaking up, and joining the conversation. | Share and discuss experiences with allyship.
Provide skills and tactics for speaking up as an ally—e.g., using evidence, appealing to values, and asking questions. | Practice allyship using realistic workplace scenarios.
Engage participants in planning around how they will use new allyship skills and continue their learning about effective allyship.
Meet the facilitators behind our workshops. They are interdisciplinary experts who bring research, empathy, and real-world insight to every workshop.
